Kevin White elected Managing Principal
At Needel, Welch & Stone
ROCKLAND, MA, ISSUED JUNE 15, 2005. Kevin White, CPA, a shareholder in the Rockland CPA firm Needel, Welch & Stone, P.C., has been named Managing Principal, effective July 1, 2005.
In this role, he will lead the operation of the 40-year old CPA firm, directing expansion and growth. He will continue to direct Human Resources and oversee Sales and Marketing functions. White, who joined NWS in 1986, is one of four principals.
The Bourne, MA resident said that he does not envision significant changes in the direction of the firm under his leadership. "We have always had strength in the diversity of our client base as well as various niches including real estate, retail, industrial, and notfor-profit organizations, as well as financial planning for individuals."
He noted, "With the ever-increasing complexities in the tax system, we continue to work closely with clients to develop and implement optimal tax strategies."
White said of the 25-person firm, "We are proud to have excellent clients and an outstanding team of professionals to serve them. We are committed to helping both achieve their goals."
Jim Welch, who is stepping down as Managing Principal, will remain active in the firm, concentrating on his commercial and not-for-profit client base.
White sees the firm spending more time assisting clients with compliance issues in the post-Enron climate. "There are significantly more accounting standards applicable to privately owned businesses. Our role with clients continues to expand as we explain the implications of these new pronouncements and assist them with compliance."
White was recruited to join NWS by the firm's founder, Steve Needel, who visited the University of Massachusetts in 1986. Upon graduation with a Bachelor's of Business Administration Degree in Accounting, White joined the firm and now continues the tradition started by Needel by visiting his alma mater each year to recruit new hires for the firm.
White is a CPA and completed the Rainmaker Academy, a three year program that teaches participants skills to help any business improve its sales.
He served six years on the Finance Committee for the town of Bourne, both as a member and as chairman. In his spare time, he enjoys sailing, golfing, and running. He and his wife, Karen, are parents of two daughters, Emily and Bridget.
"Kevin is an excellent choice for Managing Principal and I know that the firm will continue to grow and prosper under his direction," said Jim Welch, adding, "I look forward to continuing to work with him and helping however I can."
